The Can’t Miss Summer Concert’s to Attend This Year

The Summer Concert Season is Here – Time to Start Making Plans

By John Focht

Spring is in the air, and it’s time to start planning your summer season. I’m not talking about your trips to the beach or the golf course, I’m taking about your summer concert season.

Summer is a great time of year to enjoy a couple of cold ones before a concert, and if you are really lucky, enjoy a show outside under the stars on a beautiful summer night. Here are some can’t miss classic rock concerts to get on your schedule for this spring and summer.

Jimmy Buffett

Summer just wouldn’t be summer without a Jimmy Buffett tour passing through town. Parrotheads from all over break out the Hawaiian shirts, leis, and hula skirts for the Buffett tour when it sails into town. Buffett’s sounds of summer make his tour the number one summer concert to catch any year.

Bruce Springsteen

Hey, no matter what type of music you enjoy, when The Boss is in town, you find a way to get there. Springsteen concerts aren’t just shows, they are marathons. His legendary concerts have gone in excess of three hours.

The Boss puts on classic shows each and every time out in case someone in the audience is seeing him for the first time. None of Springsteen’s classic tunes, or newer songs are a miss. He plays every song as though it is the first time he has played it on stage.

With his new album “High Hopes”, this promises to be another classic Springsteen tour.

Billy Joel

If you have never seen The Piano Man live in concert, do yourself a favor and do it this year. Like a good bottle of red, or a bottle of white, Billy Joel gets better and better each year. Billy Joel might be born and raised as a New Yorker, but his music belongs to everyone.

With outdoor concerts planned for Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, National Park in D.C., and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, it promises to be a summer to remember. Four great outdoor summer shows under the stars with Billy Joel. Not much better than that.

Dave Matthews Band

They’ve come a long way since their early days of passing out free cassettes at college campuses. The Dave Matthews Band is the ultimate tour when it comes to watching a band who performs for the love of their music. Their sounds, songs, and style remain unique unto themselves. Whether it’s their classic sounds from “Under the Table and Dreaming” or their newer hits from “Away from the World”, the Dave Matthews Band has risen to the ranks of classic bands and classic concerts.
