Does the While Whale known as search engine optimization really exist?  Many small business owners and website owners have been lost at sea when it comes to chasing search engine optimization, or SEO.

Search engine optimization does exist.  Search engines like Bing and Google do indeed rank websites.  Websites get ranked on search engines based on their relevant content, trends, keyword recognition, user visits, and more.  Despite what some SEO experts may say, landing at the top of the search engine rankings is not an overnight trick.

Making your website relevant on the search engines is truly a day-to-day grind.  Now of course, any website can instantaneously land at the top of search engines through buying mechanisms such as Pay-Per-Click ads, or through traditional advertising outlets, or through automated tools that consistently click on your site to give it a stronger web presence.  The more users that visit your site, or the more clicks to your site, will pay immediate dividends for your website on search engines

But if you do not have truckload of cash to back into advertising, then a methodical approach to your website will be needed to begin to see your site land on the higher rankings on the search engines.

Keep these five tips in mind when trying to deliver web traffic to your website:

  • Consistent and relevant content.
  • Strong keyword recognition.
  • Social media networks.
  • Email marketing.
  • PPC ads.

Web 2.0 is real.  With today’s interaction features between websites and potential customer’s, website owners truly need an SEO strategy.  Good SEO strategies include blogs, keyword recognition, social networking, email marketing, PPC ads, and more.  Without an SEO strategy, your website is as good as invisible.

Creating a Blog for Your Small Business Website

One of the most fascinating words to enter everyday language in the past ten years is the word Blog.  We hear it every day.  Some even say it every day.  Heck, most read from several of them every day.  But what is a blog?  Wikipedia refers to a blog as a discussion site published on the web.

Blogs have evolved over the past few years as a more interactive way for website owners and end-users to communicate.  With the ability to add comments to blog posts, blogs have truly transformed themselves into the Web 2.0 generation as a way of communication.

For small business owners or website owners, blogs have become one of the most effective means in generating web traffic to their website.

Blogs have enabled website owners the ability to transform their website from pure static websites into interactive websites with their clients.  With the ability to add new content multiple times per week, or per day, blogs have provided website owners a unique ability to drive web traffic to their site that wasn’t available to them ten years ago.

The efficiency for website owners to have and maintain a blog today is very simple.  Most blogs available to website owners today do not require the website owner to be technical or have anytime of development background.

Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress and Radiant are very user-friendly CMS tools.  WordPress enables website owners the ability to enter free text into its system and allows the website owner to post directly to their blog site. No coding, no development, no troubles.

Although there are many user-friendly CMS tools available, it does not mean the website owner have an easy ticket to instant web traffic to your website.

When creating a blog, and the content associated with a blog, the website owner needs to be aware of the audience they are trying to attract with your writing.  For example, the website owner probably does not want to add cookie recipes to their blog if your overall website and business in auto repair.  While baking cookies might be a hobby, writing about them on a blog won’t attract to the type of web traffic needed for an auto repair business and website.

When designing a plan, website owners should strategically plan out what type of content and how often they want to publish to their blog.  There will be occasions when the website owner will need to post something because of breaking news or trends on the market, but for the most part web owners will want to have a strategic plan associated with their search engine optimization plan that touches on your blog.

If a website owner leaves their blog go for periods of time without making updates to it, well, it’s as good as not even existing.  To land in search engine results, search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo look for websites and blog that have consistent, relevant, keyword driven content.  If a web owner is unable to do that, their blog is as good as non-existent.

Search Engine Optimization Services

Now that you’ve got a great looking website, how do you go about driving new traffic to it? After all, it doesn’t matter what your website looks like if no one knows how to find you. Often times, driving web traffic to a website is overlooked in the planning and developing of a new site. Website traffic is the most pivotal piece of your website.

There are a number of ways to go about creating web traffic to your site. Traditional routes like advertising and word-of-mouth certainly help and should be included as part of your overall marketing strategy; social media plays a significant role in driving traffic to your site; search engine results either through pay-per-click ads or through organic search methods; and of course email marketing.  To generate effective web traffic to your website, you need an effective plan, approach, and strategy to begin making your website relevant.  Below are services I will provide you and your business in driving web traffic to your website.

Blogs:  One of the most efficient ways in generating web traffic to your website is developing a blog to go alongside your website.  Creating content for your website is an effective measure in generating web traffic through organic search results.  The larger search engines available, such as Google and Bing, provide strong search results to websites that create new content on a daily, weekly, or regular basis.

One of the most effective ways for individual website owners, or small business owners, to generate new content to their website is through a blog.  A blog is a useful tool for website owners to generate immediate content to their website to attract either new customers, or to provide existing customers new features or specials to review.

Generating ongoing content to drive web traffic to your website is not a task to be entered into lightly.  When creating content for your blog, you should be generating content that is relevant and applicable to your website and business.   As a writer, the services I will provide you and your website is ongoing, regular content and columns to your blog.  The regularity of columns, i.e., daily columns, weekly columns, etc., is up to you.  We can discuss the traffic you are looking to generate and how that fits into your Search Engine Marketing strategy.

If you need assistance with just getting a blog developed as part of your website, but do not need the additional assistance with writing for your blog, I will help you with that too.

Keyword Generation:  Making your website relevant requires more than just design and development; it requires attention to detail and ongoing measures to continue to attract new business and new clients to your site.  As mentioned above, a blog is an effective tool in keeping your website fresh and creating an ongoing presence on search engines.

Keywords are another measure in driving traffic to your site.  Keywords alone won’t generate more traffic to your website though, but keywords along with new content on your blog is a technique that will assist in generating web traffic.   Keyword generation is not a one-and-done trick.  It is an ongoing, consistent process, coupled with your blog that will generate results for your website over the long-haul.

Social Networking:  More people today are spending their free and available time on social media sites.  People are accessing social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and countless others through their mobile devices and cell phones, iPads and iPods, laptops, desktops and everything else.  Getting your website or blog providing new and relevant posts to social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, is an effective measure in generating more web traffic to your website.  Of course, like anything else, the content that you provide to social media sites needs to be relevant to what people are looking for.  I will put your content on countless social media sites and begin to provide you and your website a stronger presence through the social media medium.

Email Marketing:  Email marketing needs to be addressed tactfully.  After all, how many of you automatically delete or a spam email that come from websites or stores you have visited?

If you blast out emails too frequently, or emails that don’t have any relevance, you will not only discourage future customers from visiting your website, you may also lose existing customers.  As a result, email marketing should not be looked at with a cookie-cutter approach.  When reviewing an email marketing campaign that fits your business requirements, you need to understand your clients, your future clients, what you are trying to communicate, and your business.  Some websites and businesses might require frequent email blasts, while others not so much.  You should never send email blasts for the sake of emailing; that is a sure fire recipe to lose clients or discourage future clients from visiting your site.

Pay-Per Click:  Of course, the option to get your website to the top of the search engine search results is available through Pay-Per Click, or PPC, advertising.  PPC is buying keywords through search engines to get your website positioned at the top of search results.  You only pay the search engines when someone clicks on your PPC advertisement.  If instant search results are what you need today, this might be an option for you.  I will provide you services that review keywords that are relevant to you, your website, your product, and the potential clients you are trying to attract to your site.

Before you begin on your Search Engine Marketing campaign, the most pivotal tool you need is your strategy and approach.  Just like your business plan, or your overall marketing plan, your Search Engine Marketing plan should include important information like, who is your targeted audience, what results you are expecting to accomplish, timeline, resources, and budget.

It all depends on your website needs and requirements; what do you need to accomplish?
